To learn how to export data from a model.

You can export data from a model into a CSV (Comma Separated Value) format file to use in another application such as a database, spreadsheet, or other modeling tool. The following movie shows how to export the results of a search to a CSV file and how to export properties for a selection of objects.

  • You can export using the CSV Export option on the File menu. See Export Model Data.
  • To export the results of a search to a CSV file, select the Export CSV option on the menu that pops up when you drag a criteria onto your model.
  • To export properties for a selection of objects, click the CSV icon CSVExport.gif - 959 Bytes at the top of the Property List dialog.

  • METIS has a number of predefined rules for export and import. To display a detailed description of each rule, click the What's this button What'sThis.gif - 940 Bytes in the CSV Export or CSV Import window, then click the rule.
  • You can also export properties for all objects in a decomposition structure or container, for a selection of relationships, or for all relationships connected to an object. See Export Properties.
  • You can specify the character used to separate data in a CSV file as either a comma or a semi-colon.
